Award-winning writer. Crackerjack communications professional. Unapologetic weirdo.
Serving columns, essays, storytelling workshops, feature podcasts, and deeply nerdy dives into history, culture, and whatever else strikes her fancy.
Introduces herself at cocktail parties as "Southern by marriage."
Who the hell is JLL?
Born in New Jersey. Raised in Arizona. Set off in an VW bus after college for Alaska but broke down in Northern California. Met a Southern son and been living, writing, wandering, and wondering in Savannah, Georgia ever since.
Steeped in the altweekly newspaper culture of the 1990s, I’ve told thousands of stories of community, history, travel, arts, culture, and resilience over decades and am still curious for more. Deep down, I’m a writer who writes for and about the people and places in my world with the aim of connecting them to each other.
That world has grown larger every year: My work can be found in regional and national publications, within international non-profit and corporate spaces, across platforms, on podcasts, and inside books.
The common denominator is always a good story. I’d love to hear yours.
